worship as communal exchangeLiturgy image

called to come in

God comes near and calls his people out of the world, and takes hold of us and brings us into the community of Himself.

SONG: This is the Day

This is the day
The Lord has made
I will rejoice and be glad in it

This is the day
The Lord has made
I will rejoice and be glad in it

There’s reason to sing today
There’s reason to thank You for my life
This world is a broken place
But I know You have made me for this time

This is the day
The Lord has made
I will rejoice and be glad in it

This is the day
The Lord has made
I will rejoice and be glad in it

Your hand is in everything
Your kingdom is tearing kingdoms down
Your power is conquering
Your mercy is healing even now

This is the day
The Lord has made
I will rejoice and be glad in it

This is the day
The Lord has made
I will rejoice and be glad in it

All things by You
All things for You alone
All things in You
All things bow at Your throne

All things by You
All things for You alone
All things in You
All things bow at Your throne

This is the day
The Lord has made
I will rejoice and be glad in it

This is the day
The Lord has made
I will rejoice and be glad in it

we hear | Matthew 18:20

(leader) Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price!

(all) We incline our ear.  We come, that our souls may live!

SONG: What the Lord Has Done in Me

Let the weak say I am strong
Let the poor say I am rich
Let the blind say I can see
It’s what the Lord has done in me

Hosanna Hosanna
To the Lamb that was slain
Hosanna Hosanna
Jesus died and rose again

Into the river I will wade
There my sins are washed away
From the heavens mercy streams
Of the Savior’s love for me

I will rise from waters deep
Into the saving arms of God
I will sing salvation songs
Jesus Christ has set me free

Isaiah 44:1-8

“But now hear, O Jacob my servant,
Israel whom I have chosen!
Thus says the LORD who made you,
who formed you from the womb and will help you:
Fear not, O Jacob my servant,
Jeshurun whom I have chosen.

For I will pour water on the thirsty land,
and streams on the dry ground;
I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring,
and my blessing on your descendants.

They shall spring up among the grass
like willows by flowing streams.

This one will say, ‘I am the LORD’s,’
another will call on the name of Jacob,
and another will write on his hand, ‘The LORD’s,’
and name himself by the name of Israel.”

confessing our sin

God the Spirit reminds us that God the Father has saved us through the righteous life and sacrificial death of Christ the Son – and in faith we rest on his gracious interest to renew us yet again.

we here | Heidelberg Catechism, 1562

(leader) Q1: What is your only comfort in life and in death?

(all) That I, body and soul, both in life and in death, am not my own, but belong to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ, who with precious blood has fully satisfied for all my sins.

(leader) Q2: How many things are necessary for you to know, that you, enjoying this comfort, may live and die happily?

(all) Three; the first, how great my sins and miseries are; the second, how I may be delivered from all my sins and miseries; the third, how I shall express my gratitude to God for such deliverance.

we confess | Romans 7:18-25 and Psalm 51:10-12

O merciful God,
I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh.  For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.  Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.  Wretched man that I am!  Who will deliver me from this body of death?  Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Because of Christ, create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right Spirit within me.
Because of Christ, cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
Because of Christ, restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing Spirit.

Amen.

we rest | SONG: All Who Are Thirsty

All who are thirsty
All who are weak

Come to the fountain
Dip your heart in the stream of life

Let the pain and the sorrow
Be washed away

In the waves of his mercy
As deep cries out to deep (we sing)

Come Lord Jesus come
Holy Spirit come

As deep cries out to deep
Come Lord Jesus come

declaration | 1 John 1:9

(leader) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness!

consecrated by the Word

God declares the finished gospel of his Son, and continues his powerful, internal work of  change/consecration by his Spirit.

sermon |  Motivated by the Gospel • Titus 3:1-7

we respond | SONG: Enough

All of You is more than enough for all of me
For every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with Your love
And all I have in You is more than enough

You are my supply
My breath of life
And still more awesome than I know

You are my reward
worth living for
And still more awesome than I know

All of You is more than enough for all of me
For every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with Your love
And all I have in You is more than enough

Your’e my sacrifice
Of greatest price
And still more awesome than I know

You’re the coming King
You are everything
And still more awesome than I know

All of You is more than enough for all of me
For every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with Your love
And all I have in You

More than all I want
More than all I need
You are more than enough for me

More than all I know
More than all I can say
You are more than enough

More than all I want
More than all I need
You are more than enough for me

More than all I know
More than all I can say
You are more than enough

All of You is more than enough for all of me
For every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with Your love
And all I have in You

And all I have in You
And all I have in You
Is more than enough

SONG: The Solid Rock

My Hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground in sinking sand
All other ground in sinking sand

When darkness veils His lovely face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground in sinking sand
All other ground in sinking sand

His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground in sinking sand
All other ground in sinking sand

When He shall come with trumpet sound
O may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground in sinking sand
All other ground in sinking sand

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground in sinking sand
All other ground in sinking sand
