Living in Exile: Hope

Summary

In many parts of the world, Christianity invites open hostility. Even for ourselves, being followers of Jesus can set us at odds with the prevailing culture in subtle or not so subtle ways. 1 Peter helps explain this dynamic by reminding us that, while we are God’s people, we are currently living ‘in exile’. At the same time, Peter encourages us that we have every reason to be hopeful as we face inevitable trials.
