We’ve seen Jesus do some amazing things in this series: healing the sick, calming storms, raising the dead. How should we understand all this? In Matthew 9:27-34, we witness two dramatically different ways to put the pieced together!

In Matthew 9:18-26, we see Jesus’ greatest display of power yet as he raises the death. This means we can trust him with our death. But, as we also discover, we can trust him for new life now!

How should Christian’s relate to an unbelieving world? We can tend toward one of true extremes: condemning or condoning sinful people. In Matthew 9:9-13, Jesus shows us a better way when He reminds us that he came with a mission!

Matthew 8:28-34 confronts with a shocking a disturbing reality – there is a personal source of evil that seeks to destroy our lives. It also comforts us with the good news – Jesus came to rescue us from evil!

Elite military forces usually have some pretty dramatic ways the train their men to serve on the field of battle. In Matthew 8:23-27, we see a dramatic display of Jesus power that helps us serve Him amid the storms of life.

So far in Matthew 8, we’ve seen that Jesus is willing and able to restore all kinds of people. Verses 14-17 now begin to point us to HOW Jesus came to do this.
